Senator Koung Criticizes Current Administration, Supports War Crimes Court
Senator Jeremiah Koung, the running mate to former VP Joseph Boakai, has voiced his disappointment in the performance of President George Weah’s regime. In a joint interview with journalists on Wednesday, the Nimba County Senator claimed that the government has failed to deliver on its 2017 campaign promises to the Liberian people, which were meant to bring about positive change in the country.
Despite receiving immense support from the Liberian people during the 2017 elections, opportunities for transformation have been squandered, according to Senator Koung.
He emphasized that many ongoing projects initiated during President Weah’s administration were actually leftovers from the previous administration under President Ellen Johnson Sirleaf and Vice President Joseph Nyumah Boakai.
This reliance on pre-existing initiatives has hindered the Weah administration’s ability to truly bring about the change that Liberians were promised, Sen. Koung pointed out.
In a remarkable display of commitment to social justice, Senator Jeremiah Koung stressed that he is fully prepared to take a bold stance in favor of the establishment of the War and Economics Crimes Court in Liberia.
